SAF Volunteer Corps (SAFVC) is a uniformed volunteer scheme that enables Singaporeans and permanent residents to show support for National Service. The volunteers undergo progressive training to ensure competence.

[SINGAPORE CITY, 20/07/2017]-- The SAFVC strives to deepen a volunteer’s understanding and ownership of national defence. The men and women of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) support this goal.

Their mission is to develop Singapore’s peace and security through deterrence and diplomacy. However, if this goal falls short, a decisive victory over the aggressor would be the new goal of the SAF. In light of the goals of the SAF, the SAFVC also has a similar mission and vision.

Meaningful Roles

The mission of the SAFVC is to serve in assigned roles along with the SAF National Servicemen to enhance the defence of Singapore. The roles of a SAFVC are classified across three services namely: Army, Navy and Air Force.

To qualify for those services, a volunteer has to exemplify the vision of SAFVC. The Corps envisions volunteers to be competent, confident and committed. They should be ready to enhance the peace and security of Singapore whenever and wherever.

Training and Development

To prepare for national defence, a volunteer must undergo three stages of training. Ideally, it takes a volunteer four weeks to complete training before being deployed in a role.

The training phase develops a volunteer’s appreciation of the military. Moreover, it develops their understanding of defence. They also focus on specific techniques for different military roles.

The SAFVC greatly considers being steadfast and vigilant. The fortitude and resilience of the SAFVC volunteers unite them with the SAF in defending Singapore.

The SAFVC is a credible and dedicated force that is always alert in their mission to help protect Singapore.

About SAF Volunteer Corps

SAF Volunteer Corps lets volunteers deepen their skills and knowledge in their respective military roles. Eventually, they get the privilege to mentor other SAFVC. Nevertheless, the SAFVC is flexible to volunteers who progress at their own pace.
